With just days to go before the 20th edition of the Association of Uganda University Sports (AUUS) Games, Uganda Christian University says preparations are complete and facilities are ready to welcome athletes.
All playgrounds have been set, with final touches underway on some venues such as the netball courts, where workers are painting and installing floodlights for evening matches. The football pitch is lush and green, awaiting only the installation of goalposts.
Michael Kakande, the official in charge of facilities, told Vision Sport that everything is in place to host the games, which this year will feature 19 disciplines.

“Volleyball, handball, basketball, and tennis courts, as well as all campus venues, are ready, while the outside pitches are 90 percent complete. We are very ready to host the Games. We have inspected the facilities and everything is impressive,” Kakande said.
He added that the swimming pool at Seroma, as well as the playgrounds at Bishop’s and Namilyango College, are fully prepared. “We are now just waiting for the teams and their athletes to show us what they have got,” Kakande noted.
Meanwhile, the host’s volleyball and handball teams are also primed for action, with coaches expressing confidence in their squads.
Handball coach Jimmy Orotin said his players are eager to make an impact in their maiden appearance at the AUUS Games.

“We are training hard, and the boys and girls are responding positively. That gives me confidence we shall achieve good results despite being debutants,” Orotin said.
Volleyball team captain Elly Naguma was equally confident, declaring their determination to defend both the men’s and women’s titles. “We are ready, and we have only one agenda—to defend our titles,” Naguma said.
