KCCA Netball Club bounced back from their lacklustre performance against Prisons with a commanding 54–43 win over Makindye Weyonje on Saturday.

The victory helped KCCA consolidate their place in the top three of the Netball Super League while highlighting the quality gap between them and Weyonje. It was a mature and composed performance from KCCA, who looked to put behind the disappointment of last week’s draw.

KCCA set the pace early, taking a 24–20 lead into halftime, which they never relinquished. The match was played at a high tempo, but KCCA looked sharper in key areas of the court. Weyonje struggled to convert their chances and were punished for their errors.

The defensive duo of Christine Nakitto and Shaffie Nalwanja proved invaluable in the shooting circle, applying consistent pressure on Weyonje’s Asina Kabendera and disrupting their attacking rhythm.

In another important fixture, Prisons returned to winning ways, but only after a hard-fought battle against Police.

“First of all, Police is a strong side. They led us in the first two quarters and at one point by four goals. So, we had to come from behind to secure the victory,” said Prisons coach Nourdine Kato.

Though they have previously struggled to close out games from winning positions, this time it was their ability to rally from behind that stood out.

“We want to defend our title, but to do that, we must improve our performances against certain teams. We used too much energy chasing this victory, and that shouldn't be the case,” Kato added.

Their title defence may not yet be in full flow, but if Saturday’s grit is any indication, Prisons understand that now is the time to build momentum.
