Police Netball Club wrapped up their 2024 league campaign with a spirited performance against Ugisa Netball Club, though the match ended 48–38 in favor of Ugisa.

While the scoreboard was not in their favor, the atmosphere on the Police bench was anything but gloomy. For the team’s technical staff, the season has been a remarkable step forward.

Team manager Esther Ssendagala reflected proudly on the journey the club has taken since the start of the season. She noted that the team had undergone strategic adjustments, both tactically and in player selection, with the main objective of surpassing their performance from the 2023 season.

“We made some changes before the start of the season. Our main aim was to put up an improvement far better than we did in the 2023 season. With just a few additions to our squad, we managed to put up a good show,” Ssendagala explained.

She emphasized that the team exceeded expectations, achieving the internal goals they had set at the beginning of the campaign. According to Ssendagala, the competitiveness of the league and the strength of the opposing teams made this year’s achievements even more meaningful.

“The teams were strong, so it was a competitive league. We are happy with our performance this season. Next season, we look forward to adding more players so we can play even better,” she added.

Head coach Florence Abalo echoed Ssendagala’s sentiments but also pointed out key areas that need strengthening as the team prepares for the next campaign. Chief among them is improving efficiency in the shooting circle.

“If we are to do better next season, we have to improve our shooting circle. We need some sharp shooters because our shooting was weak compared to other departments,” Abalo said.

Despite the loss in their final match, the tone within the Police camp remains optimistic. With clear goals, a plan for squad reinforcement, and a recognized need for tactical sharpening, Police Netball Club is already looking ahead with determination hoping to return stronger, sharper, and more competitive in the coming season.
