Suspect arrested, stolen vehicle recovered in Kitukutwe

Police have arrested one suspect in connection with an aggravated robbery and recovered a stolen motor vehicle following a swift security operation.

The incident occurred in the early hours of April 4, 2026, at around 4:00 am in Kitukutwe zone, Kira municipality, where a group of yet-to-be-identified assailants reportedly attacked a resident at his home.

According to police, the attackers, some of whom were armed with pangas and pick axes, broke into the residence and stole several items, including a dark blue Toyota IST motor vehicle, registration number UBN 155V.

Confirming the development, Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala said a coordinated response by security teams led to a breakthrough in the case.

“Our task teams swiftly responded and pursued the assailants. One suspect was arrested during the operation, and the stolen motor vehicle was successfully recovered in Lugazi,” Kawala said.

She added that the suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue to identify and apprehend the remaining members of the gang.
