Oil pipeline 93% complete

According to the update, 1,536km of the pipeline, representing 99.5% of the entire EACOP network, have been welded. Of these, 1,441km (representing 93%) have been lowered into the trench, while 90% has since been buried in the ground, with restoration activities taking place in both Uganda and Tanzania.

The latest project status report shows that most of the pipeline has already been laid and buried, while pre-commissioning activities have intensified to ensure crude oil starts flowing from Uganda’s Albertine Graben to the Tanzanian port of Tanga within schedule. (New Vision/Files)
