THE Government White Paper has recognised three more tribes which were not included in the 1995 constitution as independent tribes.
West Moyo Member of Parliament and state minister for micro-finance Agard Didi said the tribes recognised by the paper were Aliba, Gimara and Reli in Obongi county, Moyo district.
He was presenting the White Paper to Moyo district leaders at Moyo Multi-purpose hall on Thursday.
“I am glad that the White Paper has now included the Aliba, Gimara and Reli as independent tribes which the 1995 constitution did not recognise,†he said.
Didi said the tribes were recognised as the Madi but have their distinct languages and cultures, which are never related to the Madi language.
Obong county is represented by MP Pataki Amisi.
He said the presentation was to get views about the White Paper from local people and table them in Parliament.
Didi said Members of Parliament had two weeks to get the views of their constituents.
