MAJOR General Salim Saleh has said the Uganda Commercial Bank should be sold to Ugandans, preferably through the stock exchange.
“Given the chance, I can undertake to engineer this transaction,†Saleh said yesterday in a three-page statement to Parliament.
Saleh, a UPDF Member of Parliament, defended his role in the abortive sale of the bank, saying his intentions were patriotic and in line with the aspirations of many Ugandans.
“I did not use taxpayers money to try and get UCB to remain Ugandan-owned, nor my own,†the General said.
