GOLFERS that have been yearning for a new challenge will find their match in the Orient Bank Open at the newly constructed Palm Valley Golf and Country Club at Kakungulu housing estates along Entebbe road.

The tournament that will mark the inauguration of the nine-hole course on Saturday was launched at the weekend with the bank sinking in sh50m sponsorship.

The event coordinator Henry Rugamba expects over 150 competitors including professionals from Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. The professionals will compete for a sh7m cash prize, sh2m more than what other local tournaments usually stake.

Orient Bank managing director Maxwell Ibeanusi, whose bank financed the construction of the multi-million dollar project hailed the proprietor Amos Nzeyi for putting in place an international championship standard course in Uganda.
