The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party has swept all the parliamentary elective posts in Hoima district in the 2026 general elections.

In declarations made on Friday morning by the district elections administrator (DEA), Hajj Hassan Takwana, at the district tally centre set at Kitoba sub-county headquarters, Pius Wakabi, Beatrice Wembabazi and Gerald Kasigwa, all NRM flagbearers, were announced as victors after gathering sufficient votes.

Beatrice Wembabazi garnered 35,811 votes, beating the incumbent Woman member of parliament, Harriet Busiinge Mugenyi (IND), who polled 14,725 votes.

Others on the same post, Susan Asiimwe, polled 5,779 votes, and Venah Mulindwa of NUP polled 3,381 votes.

Wembabazi pledged to engage the communities before bringing them any developmental programs.

Meanwhile, Susan Asiimwe revealed that her return in the final race as an independent was to make sure that she protects the flag bearer in the general elections.

Gerald Kasigwa, the NRM flagbearer for Kigorobya county, polled 12,175 votes outseating the incumbent David Karubanga (IND), who polled 8,796 votes.

Crispus Mugisa of NUP, who contested for the same post, garnered 879 votes only.

Kasigwa says he will front the construction of a skilling centre for the people of Kigorobya.

In Bugahya county, Pius Wakabi secured a third term in office after registering a landslide victory against the Alliance for National Transformation candidate, Hebert Tugume Kefa.

Wakabi got 30,923 votes while Kato gathered 3,373 votes, slightly over 10% of Wakabi’s votes.

Despite his withdrawal from the race, the former NUP candidate who defected to the NRM in favour of Pius Wakabi, Allan Tugume Clifford, was voted 3,091 times by the Bugahya residents since he remained on the ballot paper.

Now Wakabi says he will emphasise helping the youth amplify their work scope by providing machines of modern technology.

Hajj Hassan Takwana, the DEA, said the elections were generally peaceful, commending candidates and voters for exhibiting discipline during the voting exercise.

Similarly, the NRM has swept parliamentary positions in Buliisa district with Allan Atugonza and Norah Bigirwa Nyendwoha, both incumbents retaining their seats.

In results declared by the Buliisa district returning officer Robert Kunihira, Atugonza won the directly elected MP Buliisa constituency with 15,478 votes against Maxwell Atuhura, independent 795 votes, Samuel Bahemuka, independent 640, Charles Bedijo of PPP, 6505, and Robert Mugabe Kagoro, independent 11,785.
