Patrick Rembert nailed a team-high 18 points and four other teammates reached double figures as the City Oilers outlasted the Namuwongo Blazers 79-75 to level to best of seven finals 1-1.

Rembert once again shouldered the biggest offensive burden for the record champions but Jonathan Komagum (14pts), Fayed Bbaale (12), Joel Lukoji (10) and Landry Ndikumuna (10) all chipped in with notable support for Andrew Tendo’s side.

Nyembo Fataki snatched a game-high 28 points and was unstoppable as Namuwongo rallied from 17 points with 7:06 left in the fourth quarter to being just two points adrift with 1:33 to play. It was a dramatic turn of events that somehow the Oilers survived to set up a thrilling Game 3 tomorrow.

Anthony Chukurwa and Innocent Ochera scored 18 and 10 points for Namuwongo respectively, but the Blazers converted just 1-of-26 from downtown.

Surely, the defending champions’ three-point shooting cannot be as bad tomorrow.
