The KIU Titans are in deep trouble.
Four games into the 2025 National Basketball League (NBL) season, last year’s finalists are 0-4. And the defeats are simply humiliating.
After losing by 56 to the Namuwongo Blazers last Wednesday, KIU were humbled 80-37 by the JT Jaguars yesterday.
At this rate, relegation is a certainty for the longest-serving team in the NBL.
Ian Lubwama and Mark Were finished with 13 points apiece, while Peter Sifuma scored 12 for Jaguars. Kevin Moru and Elijah Adakun contributed 11 apiece for Sudi Ulanga, who snapped a two-game losing streak.
Ambrose Olum scored a team-high 11 points for KIU, who have been rocked by the departure of Nasser Sserunjogi, who doubles as FUBA president.
Sserunjogi has been the driving force behind KIU’s success in the NBL, but has now diverted his attention to his club and NBL newcomers Sommet.
Without Sserunjogi, KIU look completely lost. They have a new and inexperienced roster that looks out of its depth at this level.
As the losses pile up and the confidence disappears, time on KIU’s NBL history may be running out too.
