Former Minister of Gender and Member of Parliament for Kumi during Uganda's 5th Parliament, Hon. Albina Opio, has reportedly died.
According to information shared by a family member on Thursday morning, Hon. Opio passed away earlier today (September 17).
Beyond her service in Parliament and Cabinet, Opio is reported to have served as a Resident District Commissioner (RDC) in several parts of the country, including Kabale, Iganga, Katakwi and Kapchorwa.

She also served as a Presidential Advisor for Eastern Uganda, according to information provided by the family.
Opio's public service career therefore spanned both elected politics and senior government administrative roles.
