Voting for the next speaker of the 12th parliament has kicked off following the nomination of three Members of Parliament (MPs) to contest for the position.
The nominated candidates are; former defence minister Jacob Oboth-Oboth (West Budama Central) representing the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party, Paul Mwiri (Jinja South East) on the National Unity Platform ticket, and Norbert Mao (Laroo-Pece in Gulu city) on the Democratic Party ticket.
The Order Paper released on Sunday, May 24, is being followed, and Parliament convened at exactly 10:00am to start the election process.
