Hundreds filled the pews in Christ the King Church, Kampala, for the 6:20am and 7am Masses on Ash Wednesday to celebrate a day when Christians in the world begin 40 days of lent.
The Parish Priest, Msgr Gerald Kalumba, led a group of laity during the Mass.
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a 40-day penitential season leading to Easter Sunday.

Msgr Kalumba added that “Lent is a period of self-examination, repentance, helping the needy and doing good deeds.”
He urged believers to fast and repent during the 40 days.
