The Chief of Defence Forces and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, and his Tanzanian counterpart, Gen. Jacob Mkunda, have agreed to strengthen security along the shared border between Uganda and Tanzania.

The two defence chiefs met at the Special Forces Command headquarters in Entebbe, where they also discussed training exchanges to enhance interoperability between the Uganda People's Defence Forces and the Tanzania People's Defence Force.

Gen. Kainerugaba thanked his counterpart for honouring his invitation and invited him to return for a bilateral visit.

Gen. Mkunda thanked Gen. Kainerugaba for organising the Military Operations Other Than War (MOOTW) conference, saying it gave them the opportunity to share experiences on how best to secure and prosper Africans.

He also invited Gen. Kainerugaba to visit what he described as his second home, Tanzania.

The meeting was attended by the Chief of Joint Staff, Lt Gen Jack Bakasumba, Joint Staff Training and Doctrine, Maj Gen Wyclieff Keita; and Assistant Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security in Charge of Defence Engagement and International Affairs, Col Martin Nsengiyunva.

It followed the inaugural Africa Defence Chiefs' Conference on Military Operations Other Than War, which Gen. Kainerugaba hosted in Kampala.
