Centenary Bank donates computers to Kisubi Hospital

Centenary Bank has donated 10 computers to Our Lady of Consolata-Kisubi Hospital in a move aimed at strengthening digital health systems, improving patient record management and enhancing the overall quality of healthcare service delivery at the facility.

The computers were officially handed over on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, by the Managing Director of Centenary Bank, Fabian Kasi, at the hospital premises and witnessed by the management and staff of Kisubi Hospital, representatives from Centenary Bank and other guests.

Speaking at the handover, Kasi reaffirmed Centenary Bank’s commitment to supporting communities through targeted investments that address real societal needs, particularly in health, education and social services.

“As a bank of the people, whatever concerns the people, concerns us. We recognise that efficient healthcare today depends not only on skilled professionals and medical supplies, but also on strong information systems that support timely decision-making and quality care,” Kasi stated.

The donation comes at a time when, although Uganda’s health sector continues to make progress, it is still grappling with persistent challenges such as under-resourced record systems, fragmented patient data and inefficient information flows. Too often, patient information is recorded on paper or fragmented systems, which wastes precious clinician time, increases room for error and makes it harder to monitor trends and outcomes.

The donated computers are therefore expected to support Kisubi Hospital in digitising and strengthening key functions, including faster patient registration, clinical record-keeping, laboratory reporting, diagnostics and stock management. This will help reduce delays, improve the accuracy of information and free up clinicians’ time to focus more on patient care.

Centenary Bank has been reaching out for the last 42 years, and every year it commits 2% of the previous year’s profit to initiatives like this one under the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of the bank’s Environmental Social Governance (ESG) Mandate.

“Each year, we invest in initiatives spanning education, the environment, healthcare, community services and the social mission of the Church. This year alone, the bank has directly reached over 40,000 people through more than 1,000 activities with investments amounting to nearly Sh6b,” Kasi noted.

Receiving the computers on behalf of the hospital, the Medical Director of Kisubi Hospital, Dr Robert Asaba, welcomed the donation, describing it as timely and transformative for service delivery.

“This support from Centenary Bank comes at a critical time for us when both our patient and medical staff numbers are increasing. These computers are therefore going to significantly strengthen our ability to manage patient information, improve coordination between departments and enhance the efficiency of our services. Ultimately, this means better, safer and faster care for our patients,” Dr Asaba said.

Centenary Bank has a long-standing track record of supporting healthcare institutions and other health interventions that strengthen service delivery and improve lives.

Over the years, the bank has supported several hospitals and health centres with maternity beds, water tanks, medical equipment, blood donations, medical camps, renovation and construction and other needs as requested. The bank’s key health activity is the fight against cancer and has to date supported this cause with close to sh4b.
