The Chief of Defence Forces of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, on Tuesday arrived in Beijing, China, for different military engagements.
On Wednesday, the CDF and his delegation visited China National Aero-Technology Import & Export Corporation (CATIC), a Chinese state-owned defence company whose core business is aviation products and technology.
The CDF was taken on a guided tour of various units with the cutting-edge technology in aviation equipment.

While in China, Gen Kainerugaba is also scheduled to attend a military conference whose participants include his counterparts from various countries.
He will also hold talks with his Chinese counterpart, among other high-profile engagements.
Gen Kainerugaba was received at the airport by Chinese military generals and senior officers.
The CDF’s delegation includes Major General Dan Kakono, the Artillery Division Commander, and Major General Felix Busizoori, the 4th Division Commander.
The visit will further strengthen military ties between Uganda and China, according to a statement from his office.
Both countries maintain warm bilateral and military relations, which include cooperation in different areas, including military training and peace support operations.

This engagement enhances the historic ties between the Republic of Uganda and the People’s Republic of China that have been cultivated since 1986," states a media release from the UPDF Directorate of Communications.
The Directorate also reported that since assuming the role of Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Kainerugaba has actively pursued enhanced military cooperation with Uganda’s allies.
His past engagements include diplomatic visits to several countries, including Russia, Rwanda, Algeria, Mozambique, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
At his offices in Kampala and Entebbe, Gen Kainerugaba has also held high-level meetings with foreign military representatives from Africa, Asia, Europe and the United States of America.
