Ugandan singer Nina Roz has expressed disappointment with Swangz Avenue after the record label reportedly scheduled a concert featuring Jamaican dancehall star Konshens on the same date as her maiden concert, with both events set to take place just metres apart at Lugogo, Kampala.
Nina Roz, whose real name is Nina Kankunda, is scheduled to hold her maiden concert on December 11, 2026, at the Hockey Grounds in Lugogo. However, Swangz Avenue has also scheduled a concert at the nearby Cricket Oval on the same date, raising concerns about competition between the two events.
In an exclusive interview during rehearsals at Eno Beats in Makindye on October 26, 2026, Nina Roz said she was surprised to learn that another major concert had been scheduled on the same day.

The singer explained that she publicly announced her concert date earlier this year, after the elections, following research to establish whether other artistes or promoters had planned events for the same day.
“I advertised my concert date early because I wanted to avoid clashing with other artistes. Before settling on December 11, I did my research and found that nobody had announced a show or concert on that date,” Nina Roz said.
She added that she was shocked to learn that Swangz Avenue had scheduled a concert at the Cricket Oval, only metres away from her venue.
“I do not have problems with Swangz Avenue. Even during the Bell Jamz tour, we worked well together, and I never breached the contract. But now I do not understand why they are doing this to me,” she cried.
Despite her disappointment, Nina Roz said she had no plans to contact Swangz Avenue to seek an explanation, adding that she believed the situation would speak for itself.
“I will not call Swangz to ask them anything. This is the kind of thing that has been happening in the industry,” she said.
“Those who love me, my music and the growth of Ugandan music will come and support me,” she added.
The clash presents a potential challenge for concertgoers, who may have to choose between two events taking place simultaneously at neighbouring venues in Lugogo.
Nina Roz clarifies UCC visit
The singer also explained her recent visit to the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), dismissing any suggestion that it was connected to the concert dispute.

According to Nina Roz, she had visited the commission to obtain a performing permit in person, rather than submit her application online, which she believed would take longer. She said that during the visit, UCC Executive Director Nyombi Thembo asked whether they could pose for a photograph together.
Her explanation offered a glimpse into the administrative preparations artistes undertake ahead of major performances.
With both events scheduled for December 11 at venues within the same Lugogo entertainment zone, attention will now turn to how the competing concerts unfold and whether the date clash will affect attendance.
