Kampala’s party animals got a fresh reason to hit the dance floor over the weekend as Aprtment Life, the international DJ party concept, made its Ugandan debut at MoTIV in Bugolobi.

And no, this had nothing to do with the city’s ever-growing blocks of flats. This was Aprtment Life — an intimate, interactive music experience that started in London during the Covid-19 lockdown and has since grown beyond the UK, winning new fans across the globe.

The dress code was part of the fun. Partygoers were asked to turn up in coordinated shades of sand, oat, brown and beige, and Kampala’s fashion-conscious revellers did not disappoint. The result was a stylish crowd that looked as good as it danced.

Chandeliers and carefully curated décor helped bring the Aprtment Life aesthetic to life, setting the stage for a night of music, fashion and uninhibited fun.

Ugandan DJ Vanns got things moving with a lively Afrobeats set, delivering smooth transitions that quickly pulled revellers onto the dance floor. Some danced, others sang along to familiar lyrics, while a few seemed determined to make every beat count.

But when UK-based Aprtment Life co-founder DJ Parismatiq took over the decks, the party found another gear.

With seamless blends, infectious beats and transitions timed to perfection, he kept the crowd hooked. Hands shot into the air, bodies swayed and the dance floor became a sea of movement as revellers surrendered to the music.

Having taken the concept to cities including Paris, Cape Town and Johannesburg, Parismatiq and his team got a taste of Kampala’s party spirit — and the city’s revellers appeared more than ready for the international experience.

For many, it was not simply another night out but an opportunity to experience a global music concept with its own distinct style, atmosphere and identity.

Judie Nandekya, senior brand manager for Tequila and Rum East Africa, said Don Julio’s partnership with Ganda Vibes on Aprtment Life offered an opportunity to connect with consumers through music and culture.

She added that the concept brought something fresh to Kampala’s entertainment scene, noting that seeing revellers embrace the atmosphere made the night special.

If the Kampala debut was anything to go by, Aprtment Life has found a city willing to dress the part, catch the beat and dance the night away.
