ULTIMATE UNIVERSITY QUIZ SEASON 4

Today (August 24), The Ultimate University Quiz roads lead to Lira University in Uganda's northern city of Lira for Season 4's quiz orientation — coming on the back of similar sessions last week at Busitema University and Soroti University in the east.
Lira, Busitema and Soroti are among the 20 chartered universities set to feature in this year's competition — an annual contest organised by multimedia company Vision Group.
And for the participants, the stakes are high. With the competition coming towards the festive season, winning prize money and gadgets is on offer for those taking part. Universities walk away with trophies and equipment worth millions of shillings.
But for even those that don't make the podium (top-four) finish, the experience, knowledge gained and exposure alone is worth the time and effort invested into participation.

▪️ Busitema University sets sights on Season 4 title
Just as in previous seasons, the university that will reign supreme as champion will get a trophy and equipment worth sh25 million.
Each contestant and coach of the winning university will also receive a cash reward of sh1 million and a brand-new laptop.
The first runner-up (second place) university will receive equipment worth sh15 million and each contestant and coach will walk away with a sh500,000 cash reward and a laptop.
The second runner-up (third place) university will be rewarded with equipment worth sh10 million and each contestant and coach will get a sh400,000 cash reward and a tablet.
The third runner-up (fourth place) university will receive equipment worth sh5 million and each contestant and coach will receive a sh300,000 cash reward.
Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) was the champion of the inaugural season, Gulu University took the title in the second season while Uganda Christian University (UCU) is the reigning champion.

“We started with 16 universities, but it has now grown to 20. This is because our quiz is more than classroom lectures, which is why universities have embraced it,” says Adii.
Ahead of Monday's orientation of Lira University students, Adii has applauded Bank of Uganda for its support this year as the platinum sponsor, alongside the other sponsors: Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) and Turkish Airlines.
Turkish Airlines will offer fully paid return tickets to the top three university coaches to any of the airline's destinations.
"It is a big offer to the university coaches,” says Adii.
Lira University, which finished as the first runner-up in Season Two, will be hoping to build on that performance when it takes part in this fourth edition.
With the university determined to improve on its previous performance, the team is setting its sights on going all the way and lifting the coveted Ultimate University Quiz trophy.
