Schools defy govt timetable — report
The study conducted by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has revealed that 98.9% of secondary schools in the country are teaching beyond prescribed hours, taking over periods that had been designated for students’ research and rest. In addition, the study found that in 64.2% of the schools, teachers were conducting extra lessons either before 8:00am and after classes, especially at night, or during weekends.
The findings are part of the National Assessment of Progress in Education (NAPE) report, conducted by UNEB, on learners’ achievements in mathematics, biology, and English language at the lower secondary school level. (New Vision/Files)
