How Cake to Differ is elevating weddings at Bride & Groom Expo

But if there is one place this creativity shines the brightest, it’s at the Bride & Groom Expo, where Cake to Differ has been a faithful exhibitor since its first edition. For Dr Wajja and her team, it’s more than just a marketplace.

For 16 years, Cake to Differ has stood out not just as a cake company, but as a brand that transforms moments into memories. At the heart of it is Dr Anne Wajja, the passionate force behind the brand, also making waves in Croydon, South London, in the UK.

“We do cakes for all functions, and each one is different,” she says with a smile that comes from years of creative joy.

“Last year, we made a cake in the shape of a wedding gown. In the same year, we also made a cake in the shape of St Peter’s Basilica for a minister’s celebration. That’s what we do; we don’t just bake; we tell stories in cake form.”

But if there is one place this creativity shines the brightest, it’s at the Bride & Groom Expo, where Cake to Differ has been a faithful exhibitor since its first edition. For Dr Wajja and her team, it’s more than just a marketplace.

“This expo is where we start. We’ve been here since day one, and every year we return because this is where we meet new clients, people who want something different, people who want the best,” says Wajja. “If you want the crème of Uganda’s wedding scene, this is where you find it.”

Their offerings go beyond cake. From luxurious fruit cakes to wine and chocolate fountains, from ice cream machines to elegant display setups, Cake to Differ helps couples set the tone for an unforgettable celebration.

This year is not any different, where they are offering exclusive discounts, new designs and a showcase of global cake trends. For couples planning their weddings, it’s a chance to taste, talk, and truly see what it means to “cake to differ”.

But the invitation isn’t just for soon-to-weds.

“We know every family in Uganda has a baker,” Wajja said with a smile. “But it doesn’t always have to be the same person who baked your grandmother’s wedding cake. Come and discover what’s current and what’s different.”

She encourages everyone, from future brides and grooms to families, friends and even fellow service providers, to attend the Bride & Groom Expo. “Get our flyer. Even if your wedding is in two or five years, you will remember us. And we will be ready to make your dream cake a reality.”

The Bride & Groom Expo 2025 kicks off on Friday, June 27, and runs through the weekend at Uganda Manufacturers’ Association showgrounds.

This year’s edition is sponsored by Pepsi under Crown Beverages, along with The Looks Bespoke and Bella Wine.

Tickets are sh10,000, making it one of the most accessible and worthwhile investments for anyone planning or dreaming of a celebration.
