Irene Naggitta was set to walk down the aisle in 2018, but had no idea where to get a trendy but affordable gown and other wedding services.

Stuck in a traffic jam near Lugogo, she spotted a banner for the Bride & Groom Expo. Intrigued, she made a detour immediately to the expo venue, the Uganda Manufacturers’ Association multipurpose hall.

Inside, she browsed booth after booth until she found her dream dress — elegant, timeless, made just for her. The exceptional customer care sealed the deal. She instantly connected with the exhibitor and made arrangements that were delivered exactly as promised.

The surprises did not end there. Naggitta discovered salons, jewellery vendors and other bridal services—all under one roof.

“That traffic jam was a blessing in disguise,” she says. “I found everything—from my introduction attire to my changing dress. The expo was incredibly well-organised.”

Since then, Naggitta has become the go-to bridal adviser for friends at work and church.

Like Naggitta, many women dream of walking down the aisle in stunning gowns.

A wedding gown is more than attire—it’s a statement. It reflects the bride’s personality, embodies her dreams and tells her unique love story. Every lace detail, stitch and silhouette contribute to a moment she’ll remember forever.

The 16th Bride and Groom Expo is here to deliver on dreams of brides and grooms finding their attire and other services for their weddings. At the premium event, an array of fashion houses and top bridal designers have been lined up to showcase the latest trends, innovations and price packages.

If you are bride-to-be, come to the expo from Friday, June 27 to Sunday, June 28 and just like Nagitta, you’ll find your dream gown. Here are tips to guide the search for your dream gown at the expo:

  • Try various styles: Visit as many booths as you can, which will help you discover what flatters your body and matches your taste, recommends bridal stylist, Rebecca Nalunga.
  • Trust your instincts. Whether it’s a ball gown, Cinderella dress, or mermaid silhouette, choose the one that makes you feel radiant. “The right dress should allow the bride freedom to move and keep her feeling beautiful and at ease—even while dancing,” Bazira says.
  • Consult a professional stylist, bridal expert Angellah Ntambi advises. The beauty is that there will be a variety of stylists at the expo, with many available to offer advice to showgoers.
  • Key factors to consider when choosing a gown: These are body type, weather and venue. According to Amon Bazira, director of Dream & Dress and a bridal fashion expert exhibiting at the expo, designers use factors to guide brides on the best gown choices. Bazira advises brides planning outdoor or warm-weather weddings to choose light fabrics. Nalunga recommends choosing a gown that matches one’s skin tone.
  • One’s life season: For example, whether pregnant or not, the first time one is walking down the aisle. “Maternity bridal gowns are available, but few brides seek them out. At Dream & Dress, we want to change that by offering elegant, comfortable options—including matching changing wear,” says Bazira.
  • Custom-made versus off-the-rack gowns: Bazira says custom gowns provide a personal touch that’s hard to replicate. “They let brides express individuality while ensuring comfort.”
