Stanbic Bank's Head of Sustainability, Catherine Adengo, emphasised the bank's integrated approach to environmental stewardship, adding that:“Environmental sustainability is not just an add-on; it is now a core part of our sustainability agenda rooted in our purpose, 'Uganda is our home, we drive her growth'”

The NEMA awards recognise and reward organisations and individuals implementing innovative and impactful environmental initiatives, promoting a culture of sustainability and environmental responsibility in Uganda.

NEMA recognised companies which excelled in establishing pollution control technologies to encourage other factories and manufacturing plants in the country to adhere to environment and climate management standards.

Speaking after he was honoured, Tenywa said; “I feel humbled by the honour I have achieved in covering climate change and environment since I joined Journalism. Environmental degradation is a monster every Ugandan should aspire to fight because it is what our lives depend on.”

President Yoweri Museveni, in his 23 directives to save the environment, asked people to stop encroaching on wetlands. Uganda now has 45.9 million people implying that the environment will play a key role in providing food to the population and adaptation to climate change is key to the national agenda.
