Eastern Uganda leads in limited employment opportunities, with Teso (56.2%), Busoga (52.1%), and Bugisu (50.8%) — all above 50%. West Nile (northern Uganda) is at 44.3%, while Buganda (central Uganda) has 44.5% of respondents saying there are limited employment opportunities. 

“We want our children to learn and grow, but the distances are too long. Many of us cannot afford to pay for transport, and not every child can make the long walk to school every day,” Dinner Katusabe, the LC1 chairperson of Rwensororo village, said. 

About 130 presidential aspirants have picked up nomination forms since day one with the intention to contest for the presidency.

Among them is Yvonne Mpambara, a 33-year-old lawyer and activist from Kabale district, who sees herself as a bridge-builder between the older and younger generations in Uganda, and commercial lawyer Faith Namusana.

To political analysts New Vision Online contacted, this development shows the dreams that the aspirants have in their desire for change, with many aspirants expressing a need for a "missing link" in the country's politics.

Todwong argued that if the NRM and President Museveni, who is also the party’s national chairperson, were not handling the office of the presidency well, many would not have aspired to be candidates.

The call comes as the group rallies over 2,000 signatures backing President Museveni’s 2026 nomination.

Amuriat described Nandala as a seasoned politician, generous, enterprising, kind and a leader with foresight, who he said would steer the party to victory in the forthcoming general elections.
