#Uganda Woodball Federation #2023 National Sports Act

In a strategic move to align with the 2023 National Sports Act, the Uganda Woodball Federation (UWbF) has launched a nationwide initiative to promote the sport across the country.

Last week, the Federation conducted training sessions in the Mubende and Tooro regions, equipping over 160 teachers and sports officers with foundational knowledge of woodball.

The 100 trainees drawn from Mubende Kyenjojo and Kyegegwa, and the 60 from Ntoroko, Fortportal City and Kabarole district will pass on the knowledge to their learners in the different schools they teach.

At St. Peter and Paul Primary School in Fort Portal City, the training also included officers from the Uganda Prisons Service, UPDF, and educators from various institutions.

John Bosco Khaddu, CEO of UWbF, expressed satisfaction with the turnout:

“Our focus is on grassroots development, especially among school children. Training over 160 teachers in a week is a strong indicator that woodball is set to grow. These teachers will now plant the seed of the sport in their schools.”

Angelica Kabasiita, Headteacher of St. Peter and Paul Primary School, praised the initiative:

“Though it’s a new sport, woodball is a mind game that encourages critical thinking. We’re excited to introduce it in our school.”

Evelyn Kabakama, Sports Officer for Fort Portal City, echoed the sentiment, highlighting the sport’s inclusivity and pledging continued support for its expansion.
