KAMPALA - The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has appointed former Ghana international Laryea Kingston as head coach of Uganda's national men's junior teams.
FUFA Chief Executive Officer Edgar Watson announced the appointment on Wednesday in Kampala, confirming that Kingston has signed a two-year contract.
"The appointment of Kingston follows a deliberate effort to bring on board a full-time coach who will dedicate himself to building Uganda's under-15, under-17, and under-20 national teams throughout the year," Watson said.
He noted that FUFA was intentional in selecting a neutral coach with extensive experience in both African and international football, capable of identifying and nurturing young talent.
Kingston, who holds UEFA A and CAF B coaching licenses, brings vast experience from his playing career in Europe and his coaching roles in Ghana and Denmark.
He previously managed Ghana's U-17 national team and worked with FC Nordsjaelland's Right to Dream Academy, a renowned institution for grooming young African footballers.
"Kingston is an ideal fit for the role because of his extensive experience both as a player and as a coach," Watson added.
The new coach will collaborate closely with FUFA Development Director Bashir Mutyaba and the Technical Department to ensure that youth players are effectively scouted, trained, and prepared for international competition.
