Tukahiirwa wins UGC April Golf Mug Competition
Playing off a handicap of 9, Tukahiirwa beat over 80 golfers on the day, including Shaban Ram and Ernest Rukundo, who returned 70 and 75 nett, respectively, as he claimed his first career monthly mug tournament and his first win this year.

Walter Tukahiirwa carded an overall (65nett) to win the Uganda Golf Club Monthly Mug tournament for the month of April at Kitante on Saturday.
Playing off a handicap of 9, Tukahiirwa beat over 80 golfers on the day, including Shaban Ram and Ernest Rukundo, who returned 70 and 75 nett, respectively, as he claimed his first career monthly mug tournament and his first win this year.
He birdied the par-3 hole 4 and the par-5 hole 13 enroute to scoring 2-over 74 overall.
“I had a very good round. To be honest, I didn't expect to score this well when I teed off today,” Tukahiirwa said. But slowly by slowly, the numbers started adding up and I was like, okay, I think I have a chance.

“I had actually given up on the mug because I thought when I get to this level, it's very hard to win the mug. But I played very well and I was quite impressed. My short game and putting were very good, even when my swing was not on point, I sunk them in very well. But I saved a number of pars because I had about four or five up and downs. So, that kept me in the game,” Tuhakiirwa stated.
Ram and Rukundo were the best in the men’s group A, while Francis Mukonyezi beat Lucas Kimara on count-back after they all carded 70 nett, just like Alex Muwanguzi, who beat Ian Mutiibwa in similar fashion in Group C after they all scored 68.
In the ladies' division, Gloria Mbaguta (73nett) edged Berna Musanabera (74) by a stroke while Patience Musiime (78) topped the ladies' Group B ahead of Olivia Nakuya, who scored 79. Wilson Karuhanga and Peace Muyege were the best seniors, as Emmanuel Yeka’s (71) was the best guest on the course.
