As the highly anticipated Amos Lugoloobi Stabex EMC Rally approaches, Ronald Ssebuguzi has expressed his unwavering determination to claim victory in the upcoming event.
The rally, scheduled to take place from July 10-12, will see Ssebuguzi navigating the challenging terrains of Jinja and Kayunga districts in his new Ford Fiesta Proto, a vehicle he acquired in June 2022.
Ssebuguzi's confidence stems from his past success in the region, particularly in the event that was last organised in Kayunga (2017 FMU Kayunga Challenge Rally), where he emerged victorious in his Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 10, posting a total time of 1 hour, 43 minutes and 4 seconds. With his new car, he believes he has an even stronger chance of securing the top spot.
"We are going back to Kayunga and Jinja to fight for the points that will enable us stay on top of the NRC title that we are still leading," Ssebuguzi vowed.
He further emphasized the potential of his new Ford Fiesta Proto, hinting that it could give him an edge over his competitors. "Victory must be mine since I managed it in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 10, how about in a powerful Ford Fiesta Proto," he seemed to ponder, exuding confidence in his new vehicle.
The three-time National Rally Championship (NRC) winner, who has previously claimed the title in 2009, 2006 and 2014, currently tops the standings with 142 points, narrowly ahead of Musa Ssegaabwe (132.5). Others; Ponsiano Lwakataka (117), Duncan Mubiru (115), Didas Matsiko (114), Yasin Nasser (110) are also vying for the top spot, making the competition fierce.
The Amos Lugoloobi Stabex EMC rally promises to be an exhilarating event, with participants set to tackle varied terrains across Jinja and Kayunga districts. The itinerary is designed to test the skills of drivers, with four stages scheduled for the first day in Jinja, including the Ssegaamu stage (18km), KCB Bank stage (25km), Across the Nile Resort stage (9km) and the IUEA super special stage (3km).
On the second and final day, the rally will shift to Kayunga district, where drivers will face two stages: Amos Lugoloobi (25km) and Stabex (15km), both of which will be repeated to push competitors to their limits. Ssebuguzi's focus on accumulating points to maintain his lead in the NRC title underscores the significance of the rally in the championship battle.
