The Speaker of Parliament, Annet Anita Among, is expected to be the chief guest at the long-awaited intercultural fight between Dan Okiror and Moses Golola, scheduled for Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Bukedea Stadium in Bukedea District.
Okiror, who will be facing Golola for the first time, confirmed to Vision Sports that the Speaker has already pledged her attendance, alongside the Iteso cultural king, Paul Sande Emolot Etomeileng.
“The prayers of many Ugandans will be answered on Saturday. I will be fighting Golola in a bout dubbed the Fight of the Century,” Okiror said.
Speaker Among also expressed her excitement: “These guys, Golola and Okiror, are champions. This is actually the biggest fight ever in Uganda, and I am proud to be part of it.”
The fighters weighed in on Friday afternoon at Bukedea Stadium, with Golola registering 82kg and Okiror slightly heavier at 83kg. The contest will be fought in K1 style, over five rounds of three minutes each.
True to his trademark comic flair, Golola promised fireworks: “I can’t fight with Okiror for five rounds, come on mehn… Me, the champion, the world’s greatest? I’m just going to squeeze him. If he survives the first round, the second won’t be easy for him.”
Excitement continues to build as fans eagerly await the showdown. “For a long time I have only heard people talk about Golola, but this time I will see him live, not just on TV or TikTok,” said Jane Akello, a supporter of Okiror.
Event organizing chairperson Daniel Apieun expressed optimism that the fight will unite communities through kickboxing while nurturing talent across Uganda’s cultural kingdoms. “This is just the beginning. As promoters, we aim to reach all kingdoms to continue promoting and uniting people. Kickboxing is for all Ugandans. I call on all talented fighters to stand for their kingdoms as well.”
The Emorimor, cultural head of the Iteso, recently blessed Okiror’s fight and pledged his attendance. “My son, today is a memorable day for the Iteso. As cultural head, I come with one heart to support you until the day of the fight, as we look forward to winning the belt,” Emolot said.
The six-round intercultural heavyweight title fight (80–100kg) was officially launched on November 10 at Kaler Primary School grounds in Ngora District, marking the first event of its kind in Uganda.
