Uganda 34 South Africa 34
The She Cranes finished second at the Africa Netball Cup following their 56-34 loss to South Africa in a final that concluded on Sunday at the Griffin Sayenda Sports Complex in Lilongwe Malawi.
Uganda started the final in slow fashion starting off the match with a turnover which should have been an indicator of the challenge ahead. They could not keep up with the challenge from South Africa and finished the first quarter trailing 15-7.
They played much better in in the second quarter but the Spar Proteas only built on their lead in devastating fashion in the second half stretching their lead 27-16.
Coach Rashid Mubiru made a few changes halfway through the second quarter to try and lessen the impact of the blows.
His She Cranes were strangulated by South Africa’s size in the shooting circle. They were able to create mismatches against the defence of Christine Nakitto and Gloria Aya which left Uganda's defenders back peddling.
The third quarter was huge and took on a huge significance but the She Cranes continued falling back as the score went up to 26-43.
By the time the match came to an end South Africa were deserving of he honour because they had beaten Uganda. In all categories.
