The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has fined SC Villa sh1m following acts of hooliganism by their supporters during a Uganda Premier League match against Vipers SC.

The decision was taken by the FUFA Disciplinary Panel during a meeting held on April 22, 2026, at FUFA House in Mengo.

According to FUFA, SC Villa fans engaged in disorderly conduct during the April 15, 2026, match, which ended 1-1. The game was disrupted after chaos broke out in the stands, with fans clashing.

FUFA said clubs are responsible for the behaviour of their supporters.

“The FUFA Disciplinary Panel found that the actions of SC Villa supporters amounted to acts of hooliganism in violation of Rule 48(9) of the FUFA Competitions Rules and Article 14(11) of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code. Under Article 14(8), clubs are responsible for the behaviour of their fans. Villa has been fined UGX 1,000,000 payable within 14 days and warned that any repeat offence will attract more severe sporting sanctions,” the statement reads

The panel found Villa supporters guilty of disorderly conduct during the April 15 match, which ended in a 1-1 draw. The game was disrupted by chaotic scenes in the stands, with tensions rising into confrontations among fans.

During the match, club president Omar Mandela was seen trying to calm fans as the situation threatened to get out of control.

In other rulings, FUFA sanctioned Goldstar H/S Ladies FC for failing to honour their FUFA Women Elite League fixture against Lira City Queens FC on April 4.

“Goldstar H/S Ladies FC failed to honour the fixture. The Panel found the club in breach of Rule 23(4) and (5) of the FUFA Competition Rules and Article 16(3) of the FUFA Disciplinary Code. The club forfeits the match and is sanctioned with an immediate deduction of six points and six goals,” the statement continues.

Similarly, Mbale Heroes FC was punished for failing to honour its FUFA Big League fixture against Kigezi Home Boyz FC on April 19.

“The reasons advanced by the club were found to be unsubstantiated. The Panel found Mbale Heroes FC in breach of Rule 23(4) and (5) of the FUFA Competitions Rules and Article 16(3) of the FUFA Disciplinary Code. The club forfeits the match and is sanctioned with an immediate deduction of three points and three goals,” FUFA stated.

Kigezi Home Boyz were awarded the points and goals, boosting their promotion hopes. They now have 45 points, three ahead of Black Power FC.

Similar indiscipline cases have happened before. Earlier this year, the Investigatory Chamber of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Committee imposed a 90-day provisional suspension on Moses Ayebale Moses, Ramathan Dudu and Fred Nkata.

The action followed information suggesting possible manipulation of the match played between Buhimba United Saints and Lugazi FC on November 8, 2025. Evidence gathered indicated that the match might have been manipulated for betting purposes.

FUFA noted that the alleged acts may also contravene criminal provisions of the National Sports Act and that the matter could be reported to police for further investigations.

One year back, FUFA launched serious disciplinary measures following violent scenes during the Uganda Cup quarter-final clash between Kitara FC and BUL FC at Royals Park Stadium in Butema. Kitara FC won the match 1-0 to reach the semi-finals, registering their first-ever victory over BUL FC in seven meetings.

During the match, BUL defender Walter Ochora pushed referee Henry Musisi to the ground after a red card incident. The situation worsened when coach Abbey Kikomeko attempted to confront the referee.

Coach Kikomeko was suspended for six months, while Nicholas Mwere received a 10-match suspension. Several Kitara FC players were also suspended for improper conduct.

In another case, former NEC FC coach Hussein Mbalangu was suspended for two matches over his remarks during a post-match interview.

Express FC were also punished after their fans threw bottles at match officials during a league game against Vipers SC.
