The sudden resignation of Meddie Nyanzi as head coach of Kyaddondo FC has sent shockwaves through the camp, coming at a pivotal moment with just three matches left to determine their fate in the Masaza Cup tournament.

Nyanzi’s departure follows a turbulent spell marred by unresolved disputes with the Kyaddondo management committee, including alleged breaches of his contract.

The coach cited persistent non-payment of his facilitation, allowances, and sign-on fee, issues he claims have plagued the team since the season began.

“These challenges have not only affected my livelihood but have also impacted the team’s morale and performance,” Nyanzi said.

Players have reportedly faced similar frustrations, with unpaid allowances and sign-on fees leading to suspended training sessions due to lack of transport support. The situation has exposed deep cracks within the club’s administration.

Sources close to the team point to internal politics as a major factor behind the chaos. Disagreements within the management committee particularly over hosting matches at Nakivubo Stadium—have sparked tension. The shift to Hamz Stadium has further fueled controversy, especially around gate collections and revenue accountability.

The crisis escalated ahead of the crucial fixture against Bugerere FC, when several players were suspended for demanding their dues. The fallout is believed to have contributed to Kyaddondo’s 3–2 defeat, costing them three vital points.

Nyanzi’s tenure has been underwhelming, with the team registering just one win, three draws, and three losses in seven outings. Yet, hope remains. Kyaddondo FC still has a mathematical chance to turn their season around in the remaining fixtures: hosting Buvuma this Saturday, followed by away games against Bulemeezi and Buweekula.

Ironically, Nyanzi’s past offers a glimmer of optimism. In 2023, he resigned from Bulemeezi FC while they sat third in the Bulange Group—only for the team to rally and win the trophy. Could Kyaddondo script a similar comeback under new leadership? The next few weeks will be decisive.
