Kaberamaido set to host 2025 USSSA Teso Zone Ball Games II and athletics

The local community in Kaberamaido District is thrilled to host the 2025 USSSA Teso Zone Ball Games II and Athletics, with Kaberamaido Secondary School and St. Thomas Girls Secondary School selected as the official venues.

The championship, scheduled to run from June 26 to 30, kicks off today with the arrival of teams from across the Teso sub-region.

“I’m so delighted that Kaberamaido District has been given the opportunity to host this year’s zonal games,” said Victor Rex Ekesu, District Chairperson. “Everything is in place, from accommodation and security to playing fields and health facilities.”

The excitement follows a successful final inspection by the USSSA Teso Zone executive team, which confirmed the readiness of the host schools.

Local business owners are also gearing up for the influx of visitors. Martha Akello, a hotel owner, shared her enthusiasm:

“We’re ready to welcome everyone. I’ve already stocked up on food supplies to cater to all participants and guests.”

James Osanyi, Games Master at St. Thomas Girls SS, emphasized that the school is not only prepared to host but also to compete:

“We’re excited and fully prepared. Our goal is to start strong and prove we can compete at this level. We’re focused and ready for the challenge.”

Andrew Kato, Headteacher of AsOne Secondary School, expressed optimism that the girls’ football trophy will remain in Kaberamaido:

“Hosting the games is a blessing for Serere District and the entire Teso sub-region. We promise a warm and enthusiastic welcome to all visitors.”

A delegation led by John Robert Osuu, Zonal Chairperson, praised the host schools for their organization and preparedness:

“Kaberamaido SS and St. Thomas Girls have shown remarkable readiness. Their facilities and planning are commendable.”

Over 60 secondary schools are expected to participate in the event, which will feature nine sports disciplines, including:
