Former Uganda Cranes striker Ibrahim “Kizota” Kizito passes away at 54

The Uganda Football Association (FUFA) announced the news on June 25, expressing deep sorrow over his passing.

Ibrahim “Kizota” Kizito, a former striker for the Uganda Cranes, has sadly passed away at the age of 54.

He died on June 24, 2025, at Kiruddu National Referral Hospital after battling health complications for some time.

The Uganda Football Association (FUFA) announced the news on June 25, expressing deep sorrow over his passing.

“We are deeply saddened by the death of former Uganda Cranes player Ibrahim ‘Kizota’ Kizito,” FUFA stated.

Kizito rose to prominence during the 1995 Uganda Premier League season, where he scored 20 goals for Uganda Electricity Board FC, earning the title of league top scorer.

His football journey began at Katwe Noor Islamic Primary School, where his exceptional dribbling skills earned him the nickname “Pele.”

Throughout his career, he played for several clubs including Nsambya Central, Kansanga United, Railway, and Police FC, before spending time playing in the United Arab Emirates.

After retiring from active play, Kizito transitioned into coaching, managing local teams such as Lugazi FC and working with Etincelles FC in Rwanda.
