Fiorentina on Friday named Paolo Vanoli as the club's new coach after Stefano Pioli was sacked following a winless start to the season in Serie A.
The 53-year-old Vanoli had been without a club since leaving Torino in the summer after just one season in charge. He had previous spells coaching Spartak Moscow and Venezia.
The former Italy international takes over a team bottom of the table with just four points from 10 matches, with Fiorentina off to their worst top-flight start in club history.
Vanoli's first game at the helm will be against another struggling side in Genoa on Sunday.
Fiorentina are the third Serie A club to make a coaching change this season. Juventus replaced Igor Tudor with former Italy and Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti last week, while Genoa have brought in Daniele De Rossi to replace Patrick Vieira.
