Dynamite Netball Club made their maiden appearance in the Netball Uganda Super League last season in 2025, marking a significant milestone for the school-based side owned by Green Light Islamic Secondary School.

For the young squad, competing against established giants of Ugandan netball was more than just a learning experience , it served as a powerful source of inspiration for players dreaming of building careers in the sport.

Head coach Wilberforce Muzahura expressed pride in his team’s performance throughout their debut campaign, noting the impact the league has had on the players’ development.

“Our experience as debutants was fair and very important for us. The players gained exposure,” Muzahura said. “When you compare how they now play in school competitions with those who have never featured in the league, you can clearly see the difference.”

However, balancing elite competition with academics proved challenging for the school-based club. Muzahura explained that the academic calendar disrupted their momentum.

“We started the season well, but when examinations came, training was reduced,” he explained. “We love sports, but as a school, education is the priority, so we had to balance the two.”

Dynamite also struggled with squad stability after losing several key players during and after the season. Team captain Christie Apolot joined Prisons Netball Club, while Scola Khadija left to pursue nursing studies. Goal shooter Esther Kizadde and goal defender Eron Nakasoma moved to Kitende, and goal attacker Felister Asale joined Buddo.

“We lost many of our strong players, which affected our squad depth,” Muzahura said. “We could play well but fail to convert chances into goals.”

Despite the setbacks, Dynamite finished ninth and achieved their primary objective; survival in the top division.

Looking ahead, Muzahura revealed that the club would rebuild using its academy rather than signing new players.

“Next season, we are building from scratch. We do not intend to sign new players; we shall promote from our academy,” he said.

After a successful season, Dynamite are looking to the future with renewed belief and higher ambitions.

“As debutants, our target was to remain in the league, and we achieved that. Next season, we hope to finish in the top six,” Muzahura added.
