The second leg of the Kzone National Darts League may be on recess, but players will be back in action this Saturday for the Kampala Zone Fundraiser tournament at Magic Sports Arena, Mulago.
The annual event is designed to assess players and aid national team coaches in identifying those who have improved for selection to national team trials.
The tournament also offers darters a chance to sharpen their game management skills in an individual format, providing valuable preparation ahead of international competitions.
This year’s international calendar includes the Tanzania Open, the Uganda Open, the Kenya Open (which doubles as the East Africa Championships), and the Africa Championship in Algeria.
“We are giving top darters the opportunity to gauge their strength in game situations, game reading, and other techniques as we prepare for the international calendar,” said Kampala Zone Chairman Erias Rukundo.
“We also give national team coaches the chance to evaluate the players by interacting with them and guiding them before the international stage gets underway,” Rukundo added.
Saturday’s showdown is expected to draw all the top players, including Andrew Emomeri, Ronald Kalete (Prisons), Isaac Passi, Job Odoi, Ben Musisi, Margret Tumuhaise (UWA), Solomon Omara, Juma Saidi, Isaac Tolimbo, Isavella Agoro, Harriet Akot (UPDF), Patrick Ochieng, Maria Namuganyi (Police), and Robert Okalanyi (UCI).
