Burundi National Police clinched the overall title at the third edition of the East Africa Inter-Force Judo Championship, which climaxed on Sunday at the Old Kampala Arena.
Burundi dominated the two-day event, collecting a total of 11 medals six gold, three silver, and two bronze powered by the incredible performances of Julienne Uwimana, Monia Nishimwe, Ines Irakiza, and Lin Irakoze. Their consistency and technical brilliance gave Burundi a decisive edge over their regional rivals.
Kenya Police finished second with 10 medals five gold, two silver, and three bronze), while the Democratic Republic of Congo settled for third place with six medals (two gold, one silver and three bronze.
Hosts Uganda fielded two teams Uganda Prisons and Uganda Police. Uganda Police finished fourth overall, bagging eight medals: one gold, four silver, and three bronze.

Assistant Commissioner of Police and Head of Sports, Abu Kalule, applauded the organizers for delivering a well-coordinated and successful championship.
“Sports unites our region. Through these games, you have demonstrated the true spirit of discipline, peace, and mutual respect. Judo is more than a sport; it embodies courage and perseverance, values that are central to our forces,” Kalule noted.
Uganda Judo Federation Vice President technical, George Ssekiwunga, also praised the level of organization, saying that despite not being a world-level event, the championship offered valuable exposure to all participating athletes.
The annual inter-force championship aims to strengthen cooperation among East African security forces while enhancing athletes’ readiness for international competitions.
