Barely hours after Christmas celebrations on Thursday, December 25, 2025, some presidential candidates returned to the campaign trail, racing against time to canvass for votes ahead of the January 15, 2026, polls.
With just days left before Ugandans head to the ballot, candidates are wasting little time. For many, Boxing Day marked not a pause, but a quick return to the road in a final push to win over voters.

National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, resumed his campaign in the island district of Buvuma. He was welcomed by enthusiastic supporters waving Ugandan flags and chanting his name as his convoy arrived.
Before addressing the crowd at Kasali Landing Site, Kyagulanyi received blessings from Rev. Brian Kiggundu, who told supporters that every generation has its moment. In his address, Kyagulanyi promised to restore freedom on Lake Victoria, pledging that he would issue an executive order directing the army to vacate the lake.

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Nathan Nandala Mafabi spent the day campaigning in Kween and Amudat districts. In Kween, he addressed supporters from Ngorina, Sundet, Korite and Kiriki, promising to tackle cattle rustling by creating employment opportunities for local communities.
Later in Amudat district, Nandala’s campaign was disrupted when police dispersed his supporters, citing the expiry of his campaign time. Gunshots were fired towards his convoy, and his vehicle was hit, shattering a window.

Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) presidential candidate Gen (rtd) Gregory Mugisha Muntu also resumed his campaign, addressing residents of Tororo district. While speaking at Merikit Trading Centre in Merikit Sub-county, Muntu pledged to protect property rights and fast-track reforms to curb land grabbing, which he said had displaced families and threatened the region’s agricultural base.
As the countdown to polling day continues, candidates are intensifying their movements across the country.

ANT presidential candidate Mugisha Muntu was staged at Merikit Trading Centre, where he engaged the locals, told them about his plans for them once elected as President and also took time to listen to them.

In most of his campaigns, Muntu has adopted an interactive style, engaging constituents in conversation to hear their opinions.
