Wamakuyu later spoke to the media, saying he would give priority to lobbying from government to fix roads and bridges that were recently washed out by floods in the Elgon region.

He said the recent flash floods devastated the area and made many roads impassable, but he pledged to ensure they are fixed.

In the health sector, he said it is a government policy to build one Health Centre IV in each constituency, but Bulambuli district has three constituencies with just one Health Centre IV. He said he will ensure government upgrades Buliganya Health Centre and also secures it an ambulance.

He regretted that the education sector was deteriorating in the area but promised to work with stakeholders to improve the situation. In agriculture, Wamakuyu appealed to farmers to rehabilitate their coffee gardens, saying that although many have small plots, they can give them good returns because the soil is fertile.

One of his supporters, Fred Nambale, commended Wamakuyu for being close to the ordinary poor, which has enabled him to know their challenges.

He appealed to the losers to join him to develop the constituency. He commended all campaign coordinators who worked tirelessly to ensure his win.
