Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) presidential flag-bearer Maj. Gen. (rtd) Mugisha Muntu has appealed to Ugandans to exercise patience and vigilance as the country approaches the 2026 General Election.
Muntu, who was speaking at a campaign rally at Offaka trading centre, Offaka sub-county in Madi Okollo district on December 07, 2025, emphasised the importance of a peaceful and credible electoral process, urging Ugandans to remain calm and focused on the bigger picture.

“We must prioritise our nation's stability and sovereignty,” he said.
“Let's avoid actions that could undermine our collective efforts to build a better Uganda after fighting hard for this country to change the country’s culture of gun rule politics to a streamlined democratic path for our future.”
Muntu faced a crowd of voters, many of whom expressed concerns about the fairness of the electoral process.
“We don't believe in the process,” Martin Andua Drani, a voter in Offaka, said.
“I want to challenge you, the youth that I fought for a better Uganda when I was only 23 years old. I thought that by becoming an army commander at 30 years will bring heaven here on earth but injustices remained in our country until 1998 when I got tired of speaking out,” the former army commander, Muntu, said.
I have since then been in trenches fighting for the return of civilian rule until now, when I am 68 years old and still pushing on, he added.

“Do not lose hope. Be patient and keep fighting in a democratic path day by day because President Yoweri Museveni will go one day, but the country will remain in your hands. So, I ask you to make tomorrow’s decisions now. This is your time to vote for a trusted change now,” Muntu said.
“We understand the frustrations and fears of our people,” Muntu stated. “But we must not let these challenges discourage us. Our vote is our power, and we must use it wisely by voting in big numbers to overwhelm Gen. Museveni.”
Muntu urged Ugandans to focus on building a strong, united front to demand free and fair elections. He emphasised the importance of respecting the Constitution and the rule of law, ensuring that the country transitions smoothly to a new leadership.
“We must work together to create a Uganda where every citizen feels valued and heard,” Muntu said. “A Uganda where our votes count, and our voices are respected.”
I am here calling for patience and vigilance as a necessary step towards building a more inclusive and democratic Uganda, because I fought with President Museveni, I am a fighter, and I am still fighting Museveni.
