Karamoja Bishop Micheal Chorey has appealed to the voters in the region to reject evil by choosing capable leaders and those who are God-fearing at all electoral levels.
“It’s the time to reject evil at all levels and look for people with idealistic leadership,” Chorey says, adding that as a true Christian, one should be guided by the almighty God of heaven.
Chorey made the remarks on December 7, 2025, before hundreds of Karamoja Diocese Christians gathered at St Philip's Cathedral to witness the canonisation and ordination of 20 shepherds.
Those elevated to different levels included priests, lay readers and canons. Others were clergy, canons and archdeacons.
According to Chorey, evil cannot in one way push for good intentions, adding that Karamoja needs development.
“I want to petition the electoral commission (EC) to ensure the listed technologies – [biometric] are not manipulated to provide false results,” he said.
Chorey advised the people to desist from hurling stones, adding that it will not be good to see unrest in the country.
"Support your candidates peacefully and secretly," he said, adding that Karamoja has several challenges to address to ensure the region tags itself to development.
Chorey asked the relevant authorities in charge of peace in the country to ensure Ugandans are safe from violence.
“Let’s ensure our people vote for their respective candidates peacefully,” he said.

West Lango diocese Bishop Emeritus Alfred Acur advised aspirants to desist from visiting witchdoctors.
“Those powers cannot work unless you accept to work with Jesus Christ,” he said.
Acur told stories of some people in these campaigns who are consulting witchdoctors for divine powers. It may be true or not.
“We need to understand God’s greatness today,” he noted.
At the Uganda human rights stakeholder’s sensitisation meeting held at KALIP hall in Moroto town last week, the Karamoja regional election officer, Linos Okori, asked the candidates to desist from voter bribery, saying the process compromises the choice of voters.
He said that EC will continue to condemn the practice at all levels, adding that the act is evil.
“So reject evil by voting capable people in the coming 2026 general elections,” Okori said.
The deputy regional Police commander, George Obia, said the police, whose duty is to enforce law and order, will ensure a free election from violence.
“We shall handle the process without fear or bias,” he noted.
