📷 ANT's Muntu takes campaign to Kyenjojo, Kyegegwa districts

After successfully concluding his campaigns in the district of Kagadi (Bunyoro sub-region) on Thursday, where he pledged to end corruption and improve the lives of ordinary Ugandans, Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) presidential candidate Maj. Gen (Rtd) Gregory Mugisha Muntu will today (Friday) campaign in Kyenjojo and Kyegegwa districts.

 

 

 

 



The two aforementioned districts, which formed part of Greater Kabarole are situated in Toro sub-region. 

Kyenjojo, which comprises Mwenge North, Mwenge Central and Mwenge South counties, was created on November 28, 2000.

Kyegegwa, which was carved out of Kyegegwa in 2009, consists of Kyaka North and South constituencies.

According to the 2024 National Population and Housing Census, Kyegegwa has a population of 501,120, comprising 263,863 females and 237,257 males. Kyenjojo, on the other hand, recorded a population of 543,998, with 282,827 females and 261,171 males.

 

 

 

 



In Kyenjojo, 140,442 residents were part of the labour force, with 11,943 unemployed, while Kyegegwa had 117,600 employed residents and 15,075 unemployed. 

The census further revealed that out of Kyenjojo’s 130,853 households, 47,275 were engaged in subsistence farming, compared to Kyegegwa’s 42,511 subsistence households out of 115,665.

In the last election, President Yoweri Museveni of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) won Kyenjojo with 110,869 (85.78 percent) against his closest challenger Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine of the National Unity Platform (NUP), who polled 15, 158 (11.73 percent). Mugisha Muntu on the other hand, scored 728 votes.

In Kyegegwa, Museveni received 69,129, Kyagulanyi 10,656 and Muntu 422 votes.
