Wakiso resident district commissioner (RDC) Justine Mbabazi has urged bodaboda riders to unite and strengthen internal discipline to address growing security concerns and operational challenges in the district.
“Now I appeal to you to be united in order to enjoy your work because it’s not good to have wrangles and to achieve this, you should have a disciplinary committee which can handle any disagreement quickly,” said Mbabazi.
Mbabazi made the remarks on February 23, 2026, while addressing bodaboda leaders at her office at the Wakiso district headquarters.
The meeting was convened to allow the leaders to present challenges affecting riders in their respective areas. The delegation was led by John Bosco Ssejembe, chairperson of the Wakiso District Bodaboda Riders Association.
In their submissions, the leaders cited insecurity and the alleged invasion by Kampala bodaboda operators as their main concerns.
Insecurity emerged as the most pressing threat in Wakiso district, with several riders reportedly losing their lives in recent incidents. In response, Mbabazi pledged to convene a meeting with security officials to identify crime hotspots and address the situation.
“Very soon I'm going to call for a meeting with all the DPCs in Wakiso district and UPDF and the office of the district internal security officer and pave the way of dealing with the security threat to our people,” Mbabazi added.
The RDC also promised to engage relevant authorities regarding the concerns about Kampala riders operating in Wakiso, stating that she would not allow bodaboda operators from Kampala to conduct business in the district.
Mbabazi commended the bodaboda community for voting for President Museveni in the recently concluded general elections.
However, she urged them to embrace government development programmes such as the Parish Development Model, noting that they had already received sh100m as pledged by President Yoweri Museveni.
