LANGO - The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) 5th Infantry Division has conducted a 30-kilometre route march across parts of the Lango and East Acholi sub-regions.
The exercise is a regular requirement to maintain combat readiness.
Deputy Commander of the 5 Infantry Division, Col Gai Fraser Mpadwa, emphasised the importance of continuous training in building a professional and mission-ready force.
Participants in the Friday (January 30th) exercise were drawn from the Division Headquarters and affiliated brigades within the division’s area of operations, and participated in the march.
“The route march is intended to test the physical fitness and battle readiness of our troops. It is during peacetime that we prepare for war and other military operations,” Col Mpadwa said, according to the MODVA release.
Participants included the 5th Infantry Division Intelligence Officer, Col Elvis Kaliba, the Division Training Officer, and heads of departments.
