The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has released a revised calendar for the publication of key national survey and census reports, providing clarity to policymakers, researchers and the public on when to expect critical data.

Speaking on the revised schedule, Didacus Okot, the UBOS’ Principle Public Relations Officer, who represented the entity’s Executive Director, Dr Chris Mukiza, emphasised the importance of the timely dissemination of statistical data.

“We encourage the public, researchers and all stakeholders to follow the updated release calendar and access the reports as they are published,” he said on Thursday at the Uganda Media Centre.

He further noted that the data will support informed decision-making across sectors.

Okoth announced that the updated schedule replaces the earlier timeline communicated in March. According to the new calendar, the National Population and Housing Census 2024 Community Module (Volume 6) will be released on April 9, followed by the Labour Market Survey Report 2025 on April 16.

Other major publications include the National Human Resource Survey Report on April 23 and the Uganda Aquaculture Census Report 2025 on April 30. In May, UBOS will release the Uganda Harmonised Indicator Survey reports on May 7, the Baseline Education Census Report 2025 on May 14, and the Uganda Business Inquiry 2019/2020 on May 21.

All reports will be published on the UBOS website on their respective release dates.

Statistical data

UBOS also confirmed that several reports, including the 2025 Malaria Indicator Survey and census monographs on vulnerable children and poverty, have already been released and are available online.

Okot further revealed that reports, such as the Business Enquiry, will be published on the UBOS web portal on May 21, to help stakeholders plan for the country.

“It will encompass statistics to do with consumption, value addition and sales. These are aspects that affect Ugandans and need to be aware of,” he said.

Regarding concerns about delays in the release of certain reports, such as the Baseline Education Census, which has been pushed forward, Okot emphasised the need for the statistics body to double-check, as this is a critical area for the country.

“Education affects us all. We have to make sure it is of substantial quality.”

Emerging aspects like fish farming, according to Okoth, also need to be probed because they are having a significant impact on the economic growth of the country, with many people venturing into it.

He called on the public to find all disseminated reports on the UBOS web portal.

Information is online

Ivan Atwiine, the head of Digital Solutions at UBOS, pointed out that with the world embracing digital spaces and Artificial Intelligence (A.I), the entity has capitalised on the online space to share statistics.

“The information can even be broken down to the parish level, up from the district. It is as specific as possible,” he narrated.

In case of any enquiries, Atwiine revealed that people can utilise an A.I designed chat box where any statistics can be prompted in and get in real time.
