Over 40 recently promoted Special Forces Command (SFC) officers have been pipped and decorated during a ceremony at the SFC headquarters in Entebbe.
They were promoted by President Yoweri Museveni, who is the Commander-in-Chief of Uganda's army (UPDF).
On March 7 this year, Museveni approved the promotion of 500 officers in the UPDF, including 46 SFC officers.

SFC deputy commander Brig. Gen. Asaph Mweteise Nyakikuru presided over Friday's ceremony
The SFC promotions included 18 lieutenant colonels, four majors, 10 captains and 14 second lieutenants.
A statement from the UPDF said they were presented for decoration and pipping by the SFC director of human resource management, Col. John Mango.
"Promotion is absolutely a signature of a lively and functioning army under the good stewardship of the visionary leadership of the CiC and our passionate CDF," said Brig. Gen. Asaph Mweteise Nyakikuru, who presided over Friday's ceremony.
By CDF, he was referring to the Chief of the Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
'Big difference now'
Nyakikuru, who is the Deputy Commander of SFC, represented the Commander of SFC, Maj. Gen. David Mugisha.
He said the UPDF is now conducting refresher, professional and line courses, including senior level training at the Senior Command and Staff Course in Kimaka and Junior Command and Staff Course in Jinja.

The Company Commander's Course is running in the various army academies across Uganda.
To be considered for these courses, Nyakikuru said the officers are selected on merit and not on who is who or who knows who.
He specifically thanked the CDF Kainerugaba for rejuvenating the UPDF.
“There's a big difference now because we are not where we used to be compared to the year 2000."

In the same spirit, he thanked CiC Museveni for turning the UPDF into a motivated and professional army.
The SFC deputy commander reaffirmed the CDF's commitment to fighting corruption in the force.
He said the welfare of troops is now being catered for and that the individual soldiers get what are entitled to get thanks to internal anti-corruption efforts.
Brig. Gen. Paul Namawa is the Chief of Staff of SFC.
He said the latest promotions should not be attributed to only individuals but to also the entire UPDF and its strategic leadership, both current and past.
"We are celebrating how far UPDF and Uganda have gone and we should carry on with the revolution and duties that our predecessors long started," said Namawa.
He also thanked both the President and the army commander for guiding and leading this effort, saying it is the sole duty of all military officers to defend and sustain it.
He advised the promoted officers to remain firm and consistent in their work.
Lt. Col. Sam Kabwera, the senior-most officer, spoke on behalf of his fellow newly decorated colleagues.

He thanked the UPDF and SFC leadership for the trust and confidence they put in them that enabled their elevation.
"As we add on these ranks today, we are aware of our responsibilities that come along with them, and pledge to lead with integrity as we continue to uphold the values of our defence forces while we are serving our motherland Uganda with passion and honour," said Kabwera.
