BUSHENYI - Police in Bushenyi District are investigating the circumstances under which a female student at Kampala International University (KIU) Western Campus was allegedly raped and robbed of property during a violent break-in at her residence.
SP Tayebwa Apollo, the acting Greater Bushenyi regional police spokesperson, confirmed the incident, which occurred on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at around 4:20am in Katungu Cell, Ishaka Division, Bushenyi-Ishaka.
Unknown assailants armed with a knife broke into the student’s rented room, allegedly raped her, and stole her Samsung A16 mobile phone.
Police officers responded to the scene and carried out investigations in line with standard procedures.
Police said the victim, identified as a Nigerian national, was rushed to Bushenyi Police Health Centre II for a medical check-up and treatment.
Apollo said inquiries are ongoing to apprehend the culprits and recover the stolen property.
“We appeal to members of the public to provide any relevant information, in confidence, that may assist in bringing the perpetrators to justice,” he said.
