Security forces have arrested 21 suspects in a joint night operation targeting criminal hideouts in Mukono district's Jogo, Goma division.
The operation, carried out by the Police and the army, was conducted between 11:00pm and 4:18am on July 25, 2025, focusing on black spots known for criminal activity, including opium use and highway robberies.
Speaking at a joint security briefing in Naguru on Monday, July 28, 2025, Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the arrests and said the operation was part of a broader effort to disrupt crime in the area.
The suspects were found in possession of opium and breaking implements and were rounded up from various hotbeds of criminal activity.
“They are being held at Goma Police Station and will be prosecuted under SD Ref: 03/26/07/2025,” Owoyesigyire said.
“We will continue such disruptive operations to rid our communities of these criminal elements,” he added.
